Become a certified Open Water SCUBA diver at
Albany Aquatics Center through Pacific Ocean Water Sports
SCUBA diving is one of the most amazing and fulfilling activities that anyone can experience in a world beneath the surface that is so different from anything you have seen before!
Get your SCUBA training and certification with us and join our adventures through the underwater world!
We are a PSS (www.pssww.org) and PADI (www.padi.com) dive center!
Open Water SCUBA Diver
Millions of people have become Open Water SCUBA certified to safely explore the depths of our oceans.
This certification is your first step in your personal journey towards becoming a safe SCUBA diver.
You must be at least 12 years old and fit to dive – in some cases we may ask you
to provide a medical form signed by your doctor stating that you are fit to dive.
Course goal: upon successful completion of the Zoom theory sessions, the pool sessions
and the ocean examinations, you will become an Open Water SCUBA Diver.
Equipment required: the rental of all the SCUBA hard gear (BCD, regulators, dive computer, weights, tanks, and air fills)
is included during the length of the class.
$755 price includes:

Instructor fees

Dive center fees (facilities fees, overhead, equipment fees)

8 hours of pool time (minimum pool time)

Student training materials.

Certification card cost is included for those who get certified.

Rental of SCUBA Hard Gear including tanks, weights, buoyancy compensators, dive computer, regulator system, and 7mm wetsuit.
Price does not include:
Each student is required to buy his/her own SCUBA soft gear — the personal gear package that includes mask, fins, snorkel, gloves, boots, hood.
The price shown in this post is subject to students purchasing their soft gear package at our dive center.
Wet suits – 7mm neoprene minimum requirement for cold water diving, buy or rent for the class.

Pre-requisites to participate in the Open Water SCUBA class:
1. complete a 240-yard swim (10 lengths), any style, any speed, without interruption and without the student placing
their hands at the bottom or against the pool wall.

Float/Tread on the surface for 10 minutes
minimum requisites to participate in the Open Water SCUBA Diver certification:

be at least 12 years old.

Fill out (or have parents fill out) a medical form and, in some cases when the answers in the form are indicative of possible contraindications for diving, said form must be approved by a medical doctor prior to enrollment.

full out Release of Liability (which we provide) or have parents fill out Release of Liability for minors participating in the event.

each student (or their parents) must sign off our Terms of Service document stating their agreement with all the details, terms and conditions of our training program.
Once you complete your Open Water SCUBA diving course, join Advanced Adventurer!
If you cannot decide which specialty programs are the best choice for you, join the SSI Advanced Adventurer program! With this program, you can try a variety of specialties before committing to full specialty programs. It is a great way to experience what advanced diver training is all about and how valuable it can be to your diving adventures. During the Advanced Adventurer Program, you will try out 5 different specialties. You will complete one open water training dive per specialty after a comprehensive briefing with your SSI Instructor. With this trial program in specialty diving, you will have total freedom to explore. You can complete the full specialty programs any time in the future and credit your Advanced Adventurer training towards them.
